“My name is Pamela H., I am a 63 y/o black female, married to a wonderful man. I believe I found my purpose in life. My career as a registered nurse for 43 years has been a win-win in all facets of life. But not without a cause of being afraid of not being accepted and to saying the word no to my family, church members, colleagues, and community. I know my gift from God is stewardship. My goal in life is to help and nurture people, at home, my family, my church, my work and my community. I was exhausted.
I saw Ms. Frye’s email, promoting “Embrace Your Beautiful Life.” It was absolutely inviting, attractive and with brilliant colors. What attracted me the most was a person in the middle of this bright radiant butterfly. I began to think about the butterfly and what it meant, long life, undying love and transformation. I needed a transformation in my life, to seek my deep-seated emotions and to live longer. Lesa did just that!
Lesa’s coaching and activities helped me improve my relationships with family, my career, and day-to-day activities. She tailored my weekly activities which met my personal needs. Lesa helped me get over some of my anxiety, my physical and emotional setbacks, secondary to not having the encouragement in saying no. That word hurts me to say. It feels like a rejection.
Lesa’s coaching model guided me past the story of my deep-seated challenges. She helped me with my past by consciously co-creating my future with happy habits, mental rehearsal and positive and pleasurable things.
She brought out wounds and painful memories. One of the most difficult things for me was my mirror exercise. Looking at myself in the mirror and saying I am beautiful. I needed to explore why I could not say I am beautiful. Lesa had me dig deeper to see if my refusal to look at myself in the mirror was disguised as hurt, sadness, rejection, disappointment, and shame.
Considering my physical wellbeing, Lesa would ask if I get enough sleep. She explained how to relax and eating more slowly. She explained how to place positive healing intentions for my day before going to bed, and again upon waking before getting up. She stated this way you will create a new habit and train your mind to release stored negativity and explore what’s possible.
Lesa taught me several breathwork practices to help release tension in my body and mind. This allowed me some time to reflect and respond in a healthy manner, rather than react adversely. My favorite breathing practice is the alternate nostril technique. Taking a loving pause before you speak or react. Practice counting to 10 or 20 before reacting to any situation, whether in person, text message or email.
I was shocked that after 90 days I felt great and happy saying no. I started practicing mindfulness daily, and I felt that I knew my feelings and emotions well. I allowed my mind and body to relax. I pondered what I might be holding onto or not addressing consciously, why I could not say, “I am beautiful” in the mirror. It was a great opportunity working with Lesa Frye as my Life Coach. I am keeping up with my goals, my daily 30-minute walks, and riding on the bike two days a week. I still have some work to do in other areas of my life.
Working with Lesa as my Life Coach was emotional and awe-inspiring. It was very beneficial and I saw some positive changes in my life.
A lot of people can benefit from Lesa’s skill set and Life Coaching is needed. I believe sometimes it can mean life or death. I mentioned to Lesa about my neighbor’s 30-year-old daughter who took her own life. I believe if she had a Life Coach, with positive direction, she would be alive today.
