‘Tis the wonderful season of giving! Although giving isn’t necessarily attached to a special event, holiday, or celebration, I think we can all agree that Christmas is a gift-giving occasion.
Giving is a selfless act; we do it to show our appreciation, share what we have with others, and show we care. The power lies in the fact that we don’t have an ulterior motive behind it; we’re not giving because we expect to receive. We’re giving from the heart because we truly care about one another. Giving increases our awareness of abundance.
You’ll begin to notice that money and other blessings come and go in a circular, continuous flow. They aren’t finite resources to be divided up or fought over; they’re a tool to be utilized to create value in other people’s lives. Giving helps us to be more thankful and grants us a sense of freedom. When we lessen the grip on money and material possessions, we develop the strength to acquire more.
I love the elegant ripple effect that giving creates. When people receive our gifts, it inspires them to give to others as well. As we approach the upcoming holiday, look for ways that you can engage in the magnificent power of giving.
“Money and other blessings come and go in a circular, continuous flow.”
Unfortunately, many people are struggling at the moment; they’ve lost jobs, taken pay cuts, feel alone, or lost loved ones. Plenty of people need a pick-me-up right now. Keep in mind that gifts don’t always have to be monetary. Your gift can be your time, talents, or positive energy. Even a genuine smile or compliment can go a long way; you never know whose life you’re impacting.
Remember: We’ve been given the ultimate gift from God—His beloved son, our savior, Jesus Christ. That’s truly the reason for our celebrations this time of year.
Enjoy this magical season, and let me know if I can do anything as a coach for you, your family, or friends during this time. Merry Christmas, happy Kwanzaa, happy Hanukkah; I’m wishing you all a very joyous holiday season.
